Starship Keychains
During my senior year at Purdue University, I challenged myself to engineer something to have a positive impact on my community. I decided to create and sell jewelry based off of Purdue’s Starship food delivery robots and to donate the profits to a local charity, Riley’s Children’s Hospital
I first modeled and rendered the Starships in Autodesk 3DS Max based on reference images I took of the starships on campus
I 3D printed the Starships in bulk using my dual-extrusion 3D printer and post processed them with acrylic paint to touch up any messy areas. I used my jewelry making skills to turn them into keychains, earrings, and necklaces and sold them on Purdue’s campus.
My starship jewelry became a big hit on campus and I was able to raise over $500 for charity in one semester! This project refined my confidence in my 3D modeling skills and connected me with my community!
